The Annual General Meeting
We will be holding the 2023 ZZ9 Annual General Meeting on the 25th November 2023, at Samandra, Upper St Ann’s Road, Faversham, Kent, ME13 8SY. This is the house next to the railway line at the north end of Upper St Ann’s Road. Google maps is your friend. Search: Samandra, ME13 8SY. The nearest train station is Faversham. Trains run from London Victoria and High-Speed Javelins run from St Pancras International. The meeting starts at 2:00pm GMT, however, you’ll be welcome from 1:30pm onwards. At the AGM, the existing committee reports, a new committee is elected, and any motions are debated, voted on, and either carried or rejected.
Members can also attend digitally, with a Zoom call to be organised. Contact the ZZ9 Committee for details.
The Faversham Tour
For those who are interested, this event offers a rare opportunity to see one of seven remaining copies of the 1300 Magna Carta and the Faversham Horn (over 1000 years old) with a guided tour by a local expert. Meet at Faversham Station at 12:00 noon, and head down Preston Street to Market Square. Gather outside the Town Hall/Information centre at 12.30pm for the Magna Carta viewing. Head to the AGM venue at around 1.15pm to arrive at 1.30pm for the AGM start at 2:00pm.
The Aftermath
We hope the official business will be finished by 4.30pm-ish and then anyone who wants to can do the five-minute walk to the Market Square to participate in the “Faversham Christmas Lights Switch On Ceremony” which will be lots of fun (probably). And the Christmas Night Market which includes (optional) alcohol. Or you can go home like an unhip Strag.
