Terms and Conditions

Introduction

By participating in the competition, you are agreeing to these competition terms and conditions.The competition is being run by ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha.

Eligibility to Enter

The competition is open to individual entrants who are at least 18 years of age or older. ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha committee members and their immediate family are excluded from the competition.

By entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and that you are eligible to receive any prizes that may be awarded to you.

There is a limit of one entry per person and the competition is completely free to enter.

The competition runs from 12:01am UTC on the 1 May and closes at 11:59pm UTC on the 24th May 

Entries

This is a ‘bad Vogon poetry’ competition. Contestants must submit their poem by email to publicity@zz9.org, or submitted via https://zz9.org/contact/ and include a valid email address. There is no restriction on contestants also sharing their submission online at any time.

Entries must be created by the contestant, without use of LLM (Large Language Models) otherwise known as “AI” or similar to generate content.

Entries must be no more than 1000 words.

The Prizes

The winning prizes are five ZZ9 memberships, donated by Curious King publishers of Fine Press editions of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and contemporary fiction.

The prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable, and no cash alternatives will be provided. Membership begins at the time the announcement of the winner for non-members, and permits the winner immediate eligibility to future ZZ9 contests limited to members. Existing members have their membership extended by a year from their current expiry.

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha’s decision on any aspect of the competition is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into about it.

Winner Announcement

The winners will be chosen by the committee and notified via the email address provided. Winners will be announced on 25 May 2025.

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha will make two attempts to contact each winner via email and, if possible, social media.

If the winner does not respond to the emails informing them of their win within 4 days of the second email, they forfeit their right to the prize, and ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha reserves the right to select and notify a new winner.

Data Protection and Publicity

You agree that any personal information that you provide when entering the competition will be used by ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha for the purposes of administering the competition and for other purposes as specified in our Privacy Policy.

The winners’ preferred name and entry will be announced on ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha’s social media channels.

All winning entries will be published by ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha in its quarterly magazine “Mostly Harmless”, and on social media through its social accounts.

Limitation of Liability

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha accepts no liability for any damage, loss, injury, or disappointment suffered by entrants as a result of participating in the competition or being selected for a prize.

General

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to cancel the competition or amend these terms and conditions.
