Curious King competition #2: 2025 Guide Entry contest

Terms and Conditions

Introduction

By participating in the competition, you are agreeing to these competition terms and conditions.The competition is being run by ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha.

Eligibility to Enter

The competition is open to ZZ9 members who are at least 18 years of age or older. ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha committee members and their immediate family are excluded from the competition.

By entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and that you are eligible to receive any prizes that may be awarded to you.

There is a limit of one entry per person and the competition is completely free to enter for members. Membership must be valid at the close of the competition.

The competition runs from 12:01am UTC on Thursday the 5th June and closes at 11:59pm UTC on Monday the 30th June.

Entries

This is a ‘Guide Entry’ competition. Contestants must submit their entry by email to <publicity@zz9.org>, or submitted via https://zz9.org/contact/ and include a valid email address and membership number. There is no restriction on contestants also sharing their submission online at any time.

Entries must be created by the contestant, without use of LLM (Large Language Models) otherwise known as “AI” or similar to generate content.

Entries must be in English, formatted as text, and no more than 1000 words. Audio and/or video versions of the entry are encouraged, but not required.

The Prize

The winning prize is a Champagne Standard Edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, donated by Curious King, publishers of Fine Press editions of Sci-Fi, Fantasy and contemporary fiction. The prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable, and no cash alternatives will be provided. The edition will be shipped by Curious King after it’s publication date (eta Q4 2025 or Q1 2026)

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha’s decision on any aspect of the competition is final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into about it.

Winner Announcement

The winner will be chosen by the committee and notified via the email address provided. Winner will be announced in the first week of July 2025.

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha will make two attempts to contact the winner via email and, if possible, social media.

If the winner does not respond to the emails informing them of their win within 4 days of the second email, they forfeit their right to the prize, and ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha reserves the right to select and notify a new winner.

Data Protection and Publicity

You agree that any personal information that you provide when entering the competition will be used by ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha for the purposes of administering the competition and for other purposes as specified in our Privacy Policy.

The winners’ preferred name and entry will be announced on ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha’s social media channels.

The winning entry and select others will be published by ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha in its quarterly magazine “Mostly Harmless”, and on social media through its social accounts.

Limitation of Liability

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha accepts no liability for any damage, loss, injury, or disappointment suffered by entrants as a result of participating in the competition or being selected for a prize.

General

ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to cancel the competition or amend these terms and conditions.
