We have a busy calendar of fun events for our members scheduled throughout the year. You don't have to be a member to attend but we'll be armed with membership forms and if you'd like to join we'll strongly encourage it! If you've never been along to one of our meetings before, please drop the Meetings organiser a line so we know to look out for you, or you want a mobile number to contact us on the day.

42 Day

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has this to say about 42 Day: it is the nerdiest celebration ever postulated by the ape-like beings of the third planet from a small, unregarded yellow sun in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the galaxy.

As every hyper intelligent pan-dimensional being knows, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. This number has become inextricably entangled with the lives of the ape-descendents of Earth, which was, after all, built in a failed attempt to find the ultimate question. Although the inhabitants of Earth can’t tell you the question, they can tell you that the 10th of October 2010 will be a very special day. The significance of this date hinges on a rather contrived little hop, skip, and jump around the mathematics of it all. The date can be, and often is, written as 10/10/10, even though the Earthlings are so contrary that they won’t even all agree on which way round the day and the month should be. Now this is where it gets excessively nerdy: 101010 is the number 42 in binary.

So on the 10th of October, froods all over the planet will be celebrating 42 day with bus trips, cakes, games of Scrabble, and possibly the odd Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.

5th June 24th July Towel Picnic - Cardiff, 12 noon at the Stone Circle in Bute Park

NEW DATE!

We'll be meeting up with the 'Timeless' Science Fiction group in Cardiff and there partaking of food and beverages while relaxing upon our towels. After the feeding and drinking will come the badgering of the locals to show us Doctor Who and Torchwood stuff and then, hopefully some slouching and maybe more drinking. Carrie and I will be staying for the weekend in Cardiff as I've promised to take her up Castell Coch on the Sunday.

10th July Beeblebear Picnic - Kensington Gardens, London.

Meet at 12 noon at the Lancaster Gate Tube Station and then proceed in disorderly fashion to the Peter Pan statue in the park. Bring bears (or bear substitutes), bring food, bring beer and possibly a pinch of social jollity. The London Beeblebear picnic is an event which is always well attended and a lot of fun. There'll be picnicking by the statue and then some slouching around to see some sights.
