ZZ9 Events Diary

We have a busy calendar of fun events for our members scheduled throughout the year. You don't have to be a member to attend but we'll be armed with membership forms and if you'd like to join we'll strongly encourage it! If you've never been along to one of our meetings before, please drop the Meetings organiser a line so we know to look out for you, or you want a mobile number to contact us on the day.

As well as the ZZ9 organised events listed here there are regular SF pub meetings attended by ZZ9 members in various towns across the country. Please contact the Meetings organiser if you'd like to know more, or see the listings in MH.

27th March, Walthamstow Slouch

Meet at Walthamstow Central underground station outside of the ticket gates at 1.00pm. Walthamstow is a suburb of London full of cuddly goodness, the Vestry House Museum and the William Morris museum. On the 27th of March we'll be pacing the streets of this fine little town to try and discover why so many museums and Jonny5 wishes to live there. Jonny5 has all the insider information and will be our guide in this endeavour.

2nd to 5th April - Eastercon; Radisson Edwardian Hotel, Heathrow, London

We'll be running various events at the Eastercon including a Fun and Games period on Friday afternoon at 4pm in Royal C+D (Edwd/Vic) and a Beeblebear's Picnic on the Saturday at noon in Henley's Bar. The games will include Towel Origami, Disaster Area sundiving paper planes and any other similar deviancy which pops into our heads. To gain entry to the Eastercon you must be a member of that event. More details can be found at the web address http://www.odyssey2010.org/ . The where and when of the events at Eastercon may change so check out your Readme when you get to the convention. As always we'll be running a table in the Dealers room. Come and have a chat and feel free to volunteer for a stint on the table. It's a great way to meet people.

22 May Oxford Slouch

At 1.30pm on the specified date a group of ZZ9ers will be gathered outside the Oxford tourist Information Centre, Oxford Tourist Information Centre 15-16 Broad Street, Oxford, OX1 3AS, ready to assail the place and demand that Oxford come out to play and entertain us. If it refuses to entertain us then we will have no alternative but to shake our towels at it in a menacing fashion and I'm sure nobody wants that.

5th June Towel Picnic - Cardiff, 12 noon at the Stone Circle in Bute Park

We'll be meeting up with the 'Timeless' Science Fiction group in Cardiff and there partaking of food and beverages while relaxing upon our towels. After the feeding and drinking will come the badgering of the locals to show us Doctor Who and Torchwood stuff and then, hopefully some slouching and maybe more drinking. Carrie and I will be staying for the weekend in Cardiff as I've promised to take her up Castell Coch on the Sunday.

10th July Beeblebear Picnic - Kensington Gardens, London.

Meet at 12 noon at the Lancaster Gate Tube Station and then proceed in disorderly fashion to the Peter Pan statue in the park. Bring bears (or bear substitutes), bring food, bring beer and possibly a pinch of social jollity. The London Beeblebear picnic is an event which is always well attended and a lot of fun. There'll be picnicking by the statue and then some slouching around to see some sights.
